Fan Groups

If you're interested in Fluxx, Chrononauts, Aquarius, Nanofictionary, Are You a Werewolf?, Cosmic Coasters, Treehouse, Icehouse, Zendo, Martian Coasters or anything else that's come out of Looney Labs, consider joining one of the new Looney Labs Fans groups on the popular sites below:

Facebook Groups The sites below need an advocate to try and rustle up some interest:
More links to assorted Looney Labs stuff can be found at most of the sites above. If you're not sure which one(s) you want to join, the MySpace group is the fastest growing and the LiveJournal group (look down the right of this page) is the largest I've found so far.

Help Promote Looney Labs

Become a Mad Lab Rabbit. Joining up gives you 10 points that you can spend point-for-dollar at the Looney Labs on-line store, and gives you access to a bunch of cool stuff.

How To: Promoting your event on-line

This is a rough guide on how to promote your demo event using this network of sites.

  • Join FanPop, Ning and Earthcomber -- and the Looney Labs Fans groups on those services.
  • Join as many of the other fan groups on this page as you're willing to join. Don't forget the entries in the "Other Links" section.
  • List on FanPop links to an event details page, if you have one, and/or the websites of the convention, store or whatever your event is at. (For an "events details page", you may choose to make one big long post on a forum that is publicly available.)
  • Add your event's date, time and basic details to Ning's events calendar.
  • Map your event's location on Earthcomber. (When describing the location, try not to use relative terms for the date/time. "The shop I'm demoing at tomorrow" is not as useful long-term as "A local gaming store I often demo games at".)
  • Post links to the above three things on all the other Fan groups you've joined.
  • On each of the social networking sites you've joined, find any other groups/forums/clubs that are relivant to your event and join them too. Non-"video games" games groups are a little thin on the ground, so you should also consider any groups that are based on location. Eg: If your event is in Long Beach, California, don't be afraid to join any Long Beach groups you find and post event details there.
  • For each of these other groups, post links to that social networking site's Looney Labs fans group, as well as details of your event.
How To: Event reports and coverage

This is a rough guide on how to report on the success of your demo event using this network of sites.
  • Join MySpace and Ning. Also YouTube if you have videos (or want to make a video from still photos). And join the Looney Labs Fans groups on those services
  • Join as many of the other fan groups on this page as you're willing to join. Don't forget the entries in the "Other Links" section.
  • Post your event summary somewhere publically accessible. MySpace's forum, for example.
  • Add a selection of images to both MySpace's photo album (not publically accessible) and Ning's photo album (publically accessible).
  • Add videos, if any, to YouTube. Then once they're up, add them to the Looney Labs Fans YouTube group.
  • Link to your event summary and posted photos on all the other Fan groups you've joined.
  • Follow the last two points from the guide to promotion above.
